Joomla has already released three Beta versions for its upcoming 6.0 launch, with Joomla 6.0 Beta 3 arriving on 16th September 2025. Note : Lets you leave instructions or reminders for content editors, e.g., “Don’t forget to upload a high-quality image here.”
Checked out filter
Another handy Joomla 6 change is the Checked Out filter. On busy sites, articles often get “locked” when users forget to close them. Now you can filter by checked-out status, making it easy to find and unlock such articles.
API Gets Date Range Filter for Modified Articles
From a developer’s perspective, the new API with Date Range Filter is very useful. It allows clients to display articles modified within a specific date range, both inside and outside the Joomla site.

Extended Versioning functionality

New Date and Datetime Standard Form Fields

Added a Module Tag
This means you can choose to load the module’s content inside a tag.

New Reminder Email Option for User Accounts
Joomla 6 adds a Send Activation Reminder button in the User Edit form. With one click, admins can email users who registered but never logged in—no custom coding needed. Emails use the standard Joomla template and can be customized.

My First Impressions
After testing Joomla 6.0 Beta, it’s clear that the focus is on usability and efficiency for both developers and content managers. Even the smaller additions, like Number/Note fields, Date/Time fields, the Checked-out filter, and Module Tag, make day-to-day management smoother.
